The past few weeks have been on fire in the Tampa Bay area. We have been successful on our inshore trips catching snook, trout and reds and offshore has been producing red grouper. A few tarpon have been caught in the passes and along the beach.
Inshore
We have continued to catch and release snook along the mangrove shorelines in Terra Ciea and Sarasota Bay. Redfish and trout have been eager to take a bait around the oyster beds and some of the deep grass flats in Tampa Bay. Live bait, fished under a float, produced the best action.
Offshore
Red grouper continued to keep the cooler full on our offshore trips. Most of the were found in 90-100 feet of water but with red snapper season starting June 1st, we will start fishing in 120-150 feet. A few permit have been caught on some of the deeper wrecks and even a kingfish found his way into the fishbox recently.
